New Kids On The Block NKOTB - Thankful (2017 320 kpbs FLAC Leak Download)

The review has to start off with a hype level. So high. I mean, I haven't thought about NKOTB since I learned what shame was. So, the hype is massive. Secretly, I hope it's amazing, but if it was really going to be artistically amazing, wouldn't they have released something under a different name so they aren't trading on the NKOTB brand? We're about to find out.

1) My heart beats for you, baby. The drum will go to the beat of my heart - Why is there so much talking about hearts? Maybe one of these dudes has a heart condition now. So - double meaning. I hope it isn't Joey. Wait.. are these even the original NKOTB peeps? I would have thought at least one of them would be in jail and another one might be dead. Ending the song with... a heartbeat is exactly what this song needed. Can't be any more overt than that.

2) "looking for something in all the wrong places/ searching for love in all the wrong faces". I think this album might be an exercise in "how many cliches can we fit into the fewest songs possible." If song two is any indication, the answer is 5 songs. This is a 5 song EP. Yes! Pressure of the city, but this girl is on my mind keeping me grounded. HEART! He said heart again! The EP shares the same title of this song "Thankful".

3) This must be the lust track. "One More Night" to love ya. When you're the NKOTB, you know what you have going for you. It's 90% sex, 9% cliche, and 1% a combination of insecurity and presumed fame. I just need them to say "heart" or include an obvious heartbeat to really make this stick with the theme. I guess this is a song that you play before you're about to end a relationship. You know it's over. The other person knows it's over. So, it's the last lay time. Your sales pitch is that you want them to tell you all their deepest, darkest fantasies. Why not do that earlier in the relationship? Maybe that type of honesty would have made the relationship work. DAMNIT. No mention of hearts.

4) Okay, this has little blip-bloopy sounds. Absolutely has the feel of a classic NKOTB song. He won't be satisfied, that's for sure. YES. We are back on track. They mentioned heart, so we've got a strong theme. Annnnnd a "that's what she said" line. I don't understand what's happening here. "It's so hard." If you don't want me to want you, I don't know what to tell you... it's so hard. This is subtle as fuck.

5) BRING IT HOME, FELLAS! HOLY SHIT. This is the time of life! The song is titled "Still sounds good". It's everything you might remember from the DAY. This is what the entire album should have been The beatline is lifted from their own song - I just don't remember which one. They are saying that it still sounds good - as it did when they were 17, but I'm pretty sure they were a little older than that. Maybe they're trying to lie about their ages. Who knows. The bottom line is this is the song the entire album SHOULD have sounded like.
